An Artist Makes a ‘Sick Investment’

Always looking to prove a new manufacturing technique or to test the properties of a material, Lovegrove is no stranger to funding his own research. The Gingko Table is “a sick hundred thousand dollar investment job by one individual: me,” he says (although he now stands to recoup his investment from the Phillips sale). “The tradeoff is about how that knowledge can be used in the creation of aviation seats or whatever else we want to do.”
