Tired of having to go into the MoMa (although that store never sucks) for your Muji fix? Lucky for New Yorkers, Muji’s very own full-blown store will be opening next Friday, November 16 in SoHo.

MUJI is dedicated to reducing waste and conserving resources. In this spirit, MUJI encourages its customers to use “My Bag” in order to reduce waste that results from the use of paper or plastic bags at MUJI stores. The SOHO store is planning to introduce interactive events using “My Bag” to encourage environmentally friendly shopping to customers in New York City.

Bootleg Wine

These are a set of really cool packaged wines by Click Wine Group.

The packaging of Bootleg wines provides an ultra-clever update on the image of Italy as a boot-shaped peninsula. Each bottle is sleekly shrink-wrapped to look as though it’s clad in thigh-high leather, while a sexy zipper that running the length of the bottle further suggests that the wine is utterly well-heeled.

Blackle is Google’s answer to energy saving. It does this because the screen is predominantly black, and although it is dependant on your screen settings, it has been proven that darker screens requires less energy than white or bright screens.

In January 2007 a blog post titled Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year proposed the theory that a black version of the Google search engine would save a fair bit of energy due to the popularity of the search engine. Since then there has been skepticism about the significance of the energy savings that can be achieved and the cost in terms of readability of black web pages.

So the next time you suddenly feel the need to google something, try blackling it instead. At a time when wasted energy has become more concerning, Google steps up and proves that every little bit counts. Please help spread the word.
